catwoman_22Anne Hathaway was selected to play Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. I’m sure she was chosen for her Newmar-esque qualities, the role was also played by Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992’s Batman Returns. Of course there was also the abomination committed to film that was Halle Berry’s in Catwoman in 2004. The bottom line is Catwoman has been a sexy staple costume since the 60’s.

Here is what you’ll need to get people purring from liquidlatexonline.com:

  • 2x 16 oz. Black liquid latex – This is enough to paint the costume on an average person.
  • 16 oz. Base coat white – Using 2-3 layers of white basecoat latex will neutralize your natural skintone and make your   color truer.
  • 4 oz. Metallic Silver – Make your zippers with this silver paint.
  • The Prep, Clean and Finish Kit:
    Body Prep
    – Rub this into your skin and allow to dry before applying your first coat of latex, this will make removal later much easier, and make the application smoother as well.
Finish Spray – Must have! The website FAQs are absolutely correct.  Spraying on the fnishing spray as the last coat removed all the tackiness from the latex. Without it, the latex sticks to itself.
Body Clean – Highly recommend this too!  At the end of the night, it instantly helped remove any latex that was caught in the hairline or on arm hair. Water is not used with this product, just rub into the latex and it will beging to dissolve after 20 seconds or so. Water seizes this process so do not take a shower until you have dissolved all the latex from your skin.

article-0-19E5723E000005DC-50_634x797For the rest of this month, we will be going over some costume ideas that you can create at home using products found on liquidlatexonline.com.

Mystique, or Rayven Darkholme (which is her civilian name) is a very popular character from Marvel’s X-Men universe, and a great choice for a liquid latex costume.

For this costume, this is the order from http://www.liquidlatexonline.com:

  • 2 x 16 oz. Metallic Blue liquid latex – This is enough to paint the costume on an average person.
  • 16 oz. Base coat white – Using 2-3 layers of white basecoat latex will neutralize your natural skintone and make your   color truer.
  • 4 oz. Black – You can use this to add dimension to the paint job, or darken your Metallic Blue.

Liquid latex application tips:

  • Allow each coat to dry before the next, spend as little or as much time as you want on your masterpiece.
  • You should only need 2-3 layers of blue if you use the base coat.  Since the latex is translucent, your skin color will show through if you don’t put on enough base coat.
  • Armpits are challenging. Once you do your armpits, you can’t put your arms down until you’ve applied the finish Spray. Without the spray, the latex will stick to itself and will start ripping once you lift your arms. So do them one at a time, and once they are dry spray them with the finish spray.
  • Most latex is not safe for your face because it contains ammonia, this is not the case with our formulation. It is ammonia free and FDA approved.
  • The latex will shrink and feel snug, but you will still be able to perspire and it will not clog your pores.
  • Latex will come off quickly when you are ready, most of it can just be rolled at the edges and pulled away from the skin, for any stubborn areas apply the body clean serum and rub in until latex dissolves.

So have fun trying this at home, and send us your pictures! We want to see what you can come up with.

apparelDid you know that you can make your own custom clothes with liquid Latex? Liquid Latex may be used to coat almost anything, but it is not removable from fabric materials.

When using liquid latex on fabric, the liquid latex will seep through the material. The latex will adhere very firmly, so using liquid latex on fabric will be permanent. When working on a tee shirt / dress / hoodie / skirt / tights, or whatever you can come up with, insert some cardboard to protect any fabric you do not want to be painted, and mask off areas you wish o leave unpainted on your working surface.

To make an image on fabric with liquid latex, you can splatter it, dip it, or paint with a sponge or stencil brush. Using bristled brushes is not recommended as it can leave brush marks, and even loose bristles in your final products.

Ensure you thoroughly coat the areas that you want to be painted. Let is saturate the material you are working on and dry completely before adding a new coat. Some fabrics will take the paint better than others, you can experiment with scraps from your local sewing store. Streaks or runs in the paint will be apparent in you finished design so make sure your paint is evenly applied. Stretchy materials may need to be stretched prior to/ during painting to avoid gaps and pulls in your design.

Applying at least 2 coats is best, it will give a solid appearance and a professional ‘sheen’. Before using any latex paint on any item we strongly recommend that you test a small area to see how the paint will perform on that type of surface.

Here are just some answers to your frequently asked questions, for more blacklightLiquidLatexinformation you can visit our website – liquidlatexfashions.com.

Can you use Liquid Latex to make molds?
Yes. In fact, we will soon be introducing additives to help harden the latex and speed the drying time.

Can the colors be mixed?
Yes, you can mix colors out of the jar to create custom tones. We also sell concentrated color pigments to add to Liquid Latex Fashions Body Paint.

Can you spray it on with an airbrush?
Yes. Use a brush capable of heavier viscosity outputs, such as an automotive touchup brush. Paasche makes some brushes that work well with Liquid Latex Face & Body Paint. Generally the latex will need no thinning. Be sure to keep the pressure low to avoid injury and the tip of the gun clean so it doesn’t clog.

What makes Liquid Latex Fashions Body Paint better than other the other liquid latex products?
We have devoted a great deal of time to extensive product development. Our Liquid Latex Body Paint is formulated with FDA approved ingredients, using only natural, medical grade products.  We have formulated the Liquid Latex Body Paint to be the shiniest, smoothest, stretchiest and most richly and vibrantly colored liquid latex possible. We are constantly working on ways to advance our current products, develop new products, enrich our packaging and promote our name on our product lines.

What is Stardust?
Liquid Latex Fashions’ Stardust is a finely ground mica powder that is brushed over the surface of dried Liquid Latex Body Paint. Mica is a natural element that is used in many popular cosmetic products. Stardust is used as a finishing product to keep the dry latex from sticking together and ripping and also creates brilliant metallic or pearlescent effects on the surface of latex, leather or directly on the skin. Stardust can be used as an alternative to Fantasy Finish spray.

What is Fantasy Finish spray?
Liquid Latex Fashions Fantasy Finish Spray is a silicone-water emulsion that can be used to polish dull latex and other surfaces.  Use Fantasy Finish as a finishing product on the final dried surface of Liquid Latex that helps to keep the latex from bonding to itself. Fantasy Finish can be used as an alternative to Stardust powder.

Why do you have to use a “finishing product” (Stardust or Fantasy Finish spray)?
Finishing products such as Fantasy Finish polish or Stardust powder are used on the final, dried surface of Liquid Latex to keep it from sticking together and ripping. Liquid Latex Body Paint, after drying, will be tacky to the touch and if two painted areas touch together, it will cause a “contact glue” effect, causing it to rip or peel away from the skin if the finishing products are not used.

Does Stardust go on when the latex is wet or dry?
Dust the Stardust on only after the latex has completely dried. Because it is such a fine powder, it will slightly embed itself on the surface of the latex. Then you can wipe away the excess with your hands or a cloth.

Can you wear the latex again after it’s been taken off?
Liquid latex is generally a one-time-use product if painting it on the body. After peeling it off, it will usually tear, stretch out, and/or crumple up and stick together. Liquid Latex can be painted over some fabrics, especially denim or Lycra, if you would like rewearable latex clothes.

How thick is it after 3 coats?
Depending on how thick you paint it on, the latex will usually be about the same as wearing two rubber gloves.

Hopefully some of these answers will help you to create your own stunning latex creations.

1. How do you apply Liquid Latex?
The Liquid Latex body paints sold through our website are the only FDA approved, AMMONIA FREE, Liquid Latex body paints available. To apply our paints, cover the areas of the body you wish to apply paint to with our ‘Body Prep” lotion, not only will this ensure the paint adheres properly to the skin, but it will make removal later much easier. Then with a sponge, paintbrush, or airbrush apply several coats of product, allowing 10-15 minutes of drying time between each coat. (This process can be sped up with the use of a hair dryer set on low heat.) Once the desired design has been attained, simply spray your paint with our Liquid Latex Fantasy Finish spray and show off your new look.

2. Can your paints be applied to the face?
Yes! Especially since our formula is manufactured with FDA approved ingredients, and is hypoallergenic.

3. Can I wear Liquid Latex body paint outside of my home?
This is also a yes, not only is latex body paint legal to wear, it’s great for Halloween costumes, Comic Convention Cosplay, or any occasion where a stand-out costume is needed.

4. How do I get it off?
